• Our Story

In the early 2000s, the Cornell Hindu Student Council (HSC) was founded with the hope of providing a spiritual home for Hindu students on campus. Through weekly services, cultural celebrations, and advocacy discussions, we have grown into one of the largest cultural and spiritual organizations at Cornell.

Our flagship events, Diwali and Holi, attract some of the largest audiences on campus, bringing together students from all backgrounds to celebrate Hindu traditions. The scale of our reach even earned HSC a place on the famous 161 Things to Do at Cornell list. For nearly 20 years, we have remained committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive space for all students to explore and celebrate Hinduism.

At its core, HSC is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Hindu traditions while creating a community where students can connect, learn, and grow. Through our religious services, cultural events, and discussions on Hindu philosophy, we strive to make Hinduism more accessible to students at Cornell.

Our mission extends beyond just celebrations—we also serve as a platform for advocacy and dialogue. We believe in uplifting Hindu voices on campus and ensuring that Hindu students feel seen, heard, and valued.

  • Building a community

HSC is more than just an organization—it is a home away from home for Hindu students at Cornell. Whether through our weekly pujas, social gatherings, or major festivals, we provide a space where students can embrace their faith, find support, and form lifelong friendships.

As we look toward the future, we remain committed to strengthening our presence, expanding our reach, and deepening our impact. We invite you to join us, celebrate with us, and be part of our story as we continue to build a strong and vibrant Hindu community at Cornell.
