CAR serves as the bridge between Computer Science academia and industry for Cornell students. The academia and industry have very different goals and mindsets. Many students wishing to enter the CS industry have limited interview experience. With an increasingly competitive job market, the overabundance of programmers, and lack of training, we find talent students failing interviews. To tackle the problems before graduation, CAR connects students with alumni already working in top technical companies, and CAR helps them practice technical questions. Furthermore, CAR would try to do industrial projects to help students get practical skills. CAR would research on big data topics closely related to jobs and interviews.

The fundamental missions of are as follows:

The Cornell Association of PhD Planners (CAPP) represents PhD students in City and Regional Planning at Cornell University, inclusive of students in City and Regional Planning, Historic Preservation Planning and Regional Science. The mission of this group is to read contemporary texts that engage with current issues on Brazilian culture, literature, and society; bridging disciplines such as literature, anthropology, urban studies, architecture, law, and visual studies. From the auto-ethnography of the Yanomami shaman Davi Kopenawa, to the wave of protests of 2013, to literary works from the peripheries of São Paulo and the favelas of Rio and the environmental issues on the Amazon rainforest. Our group’s idea is to focus on recent debates that work on a critical displacement of fixed categories—such as subject and object, margin and center, territory and state—by trying to develop new ways of reading the interplay between aesthetic, political, and social discourses.
