One in four Nigerians suffer from mental illnesses. Figures have shown that 80 percent of individuals who need mental care in Nigeria, cannot access it. According to the world health organization, Nigeria is ranked 15th in the world in frequency of suicide.
Our international operations team decided to address this issue by working with the love, peace and Mental health foundation in Nigeria on a mental health awareness project. Members of the team helped create informational materials on different mental illnesses and these materials were distributed by the LPM foundation
At SOSA we believe it is our responsibility to present Africa in a new light, reflective fo the beauty, opportunity, and excellence of our continent. Each year we aim to change the old narrative that Africa is often portrayed as, to one which focuses on Africa as a pool of talent and resources awaiting investment.
