Joanne H. (Unit 4 RA)
Hey all! I'm Joanne, a rising junior at the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. I study Communication and plan to double major in Information Science. I also go by Joanne, so feel free to call me by either name. I am an international student from Nanjing, China, and I transferred from the College of William & Mary after my first year.
Regarding my study and work, media and business are my two big focuses. As a media person, I write for the Daily Sun as a news writer. I am also passionate about research in social media and technology. From the business side, I am interested in the intersection between technology, business, and social impact, and I am part of Ascend Cornell Chapter and Social Enterprise at Cornell. These days I am also learning about sustainability, specifically climate tech. Very happy and excited if you want to chat with me about these topics!
Outside schoolwork, I do some verbal stuff. I am on the school's Worlds debate team and recently sneaking into the world of stand-ups. You may find me cramming for my paper in the debate office or getting late-night snacks from Louie's. (Midnight chicken fingers are the best!)
For a long, music has been my passion in life. I have enjoyed listening to Mandarin and Cantonese pop since middle school, and I became a huge fan of Lady Gaga during my freshman year. Music cheers me a lot, and I hope to bring new styles to JAM.
