Our logo is a white lotus flower on a background of carnelian red. The lotus is an important symbol in all Indic religions, and particularly in Buddhism. The Buddha famously compared himself to a lotus in the Pali Doṇa-sutta, rising up unbesmirched from the world like a lotus in a muddy pond. Carnelian and white are the official colours of Cornell University.

This symbolism was chosen by members of the Society for Buddhist Studies, and the logo was designed by Natalia López Barbosa (@natlopezbarbosa)
