Welcome!

Welcome to Cornell! My name is Lauren Hamre and I am the Residence Hall Director (RHD) of the Low Rises. As a Residence Hall Director, I provide leadership, community and program development, administrative management, and student conduct management in support of our community. The Resident Advisor (RA) team and I are looking forward to spending this year supporting you!  

You will learn more about my role as an RHD and my RA Team through hall meetings after you arrive. In the meantime, know that we are here to support you as you transition (or return!) to Cornell!

Mail & Address 

Service Center: You will be able to pick up your mail and packages at the Robert Purcell Service Center on the first floor/ground level. Information about Service Center hours and contact information are located here and will be updated if/as hours change.

Move-In

  • A few notes on Move-In at the Low Rises 

  • Please follow all instructions about Move-in provided by the Housing & Residential Life Office (housing@cornell.edu). Once you are directed to our community to unload after checking-in at the mall, you can find more information about our community at our Welcome Area. I as well as my RA Team will be around to support you.  

Facilities and Building Care Assistance 

Use the online Service Request system to report any concerns regarding alarms, damage, doors, drains, elevators, flooring, furniture, leaks, lights, locks, mechanical noise/failure odors power/electrical, service, room temperature, snow, water, or windows. For facilities emergencies, do not submit a service request, but rather follow the emergency request protocol and call.  

Laundry 

Laundry machines are located: 

  • Low Rise 6: Basement level  

  • Low Rise 7: second level near vending machines

Dining 

The closest Dining Hall to our Community is Toni Morrison Dining Hall and North Star Dining Room in Appel. Additional information about Dining Services on campus can be found here, including locations, times of operations, and meal plan information.  

Spaces within the Community 

  • Main Lounges: There are main lounges in both buildings that are air-conditioned spaces with couches, chairs, tables, and a ping pong table.  

  • Low Rise 6: Second floor next to Unit 4 

  • Low Rise 7: Third floor next to unit 3
