About Us

Wanawake Wa Wari was originally founded in 1968 by a group of Black women who felt the need for an atmosphere that promoted self-awareness and personal confidence. Since that time Wari has served as a place where women of African descent have prepared for the world academically, culturally, and socially. It has also provided an atmosphere where women feel comfortable to deal with the issues that relate to their lives and history in the Ithaca community and beyond. We are striving to continue this tradition.
