About

Taekwondo at Cornell

We were founded in the Spring of 1987. Since then, Sport Taekwondo at Cornell has been one of the top teams in collegiate taekwondo. Sport Taekwondo at Cornell competes as a part of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference  (ECTC) and the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association (NCTA). The majority of our competitors begin with no experience, but many go on to successfully compete in ECTC and NCTA tournaments.

The Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC)

ECTC tournaments are broken into 3 divisions for forms and 6 divisions for sparring.

B Team:

  • Blue Belts: Taeguek 5 and 6

Sparring is broken into the following divisions:

  • Green belts and below: C team - men's and women's divisions
  • Green to red belts: B team - men's and women's divisions
  • Blue to Black belts: A team - men's and women's divisions

All poomsae and sparring divisions can score points for the competitors' representative schools, meaning that all members of a team can contribute. Attacks to the head are forbidden in C Team sparring. Point charts and full rules on eligibility for each round can be found on the ECTC webpage.
