Cornell University’s longest-running literary magazine
Published biannually since 1969, Rainy Day presents the finest student literary works from undergraduates across the country. Our staff is a cooperative group of editors who come from a myriad of backgrounds: Economics, Biology, Philosophy, English, Psychology, Chemistry, and other majors. Interactive meetings to critique submitted work are held weekly, and are open to all Cornell undergraduate students.
Our magazine was founded by Professor Kenneth A. McClane, who is now W.E.B. Du Bois Professor of Literature Emeritus and who said in our 30th anniversary issue, “Rainy Day might well be the longest-lived student publication in the country.” Rainy Day is a prestigious magazine with a long tradition: in our first year, we published a poem by Richard Price, a now-famous novelist and screenwriter (author of “Clockers”), and have since published work by now famed writers Anselm Hollo, James Bertolino, Thomas Johnson, and Veronica Roth.
