Diwali—known in Nepal as Tihar—is the festival of lights, celebrating the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. It is one of the most important festivals in Nepali and Hindu culture. The five days of Tihar honor different relationships and elements of life: crows, dogs, cows, wealth, and the bond between brothers and sisters. Families decorate their homes with diyas (oil lamps), colorful rangoli, and lights to welcome prosperity and positive energy.
We celebrate Diwali/Tihar to express gratitude, strengthen family bonds, and invite blessings for health, happiness, and good fortune. It is a time of togetherness, prayer, and joy—symbolizing hope and the triumph of positivity in our lives.
