Big Red THON is an independently registered, non-profit organization and Cornell's branch of the Children Miracle Network Hospitals Dance Marathon. We brought the Dance Marathon movement to the Ivy League in 2015, and have raised over $115,000 for Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse. Our yearly Dance Marathon, typically held in Barton Hall, is a celebration of the fundraising campaigns we've held leading up to the main event. BRT works with many on and off campus organizations, our sponsors, and those who help us get one step closer to ending childhood illness. - Brain Exercise Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on preventing memory loss through brain exercise.
- Pioneered by neuroscientist Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, it has been found that doing simple math and reading aloud for just 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week, caused marked improvements for those with Alzheimer's. Most showed improvements in cognitive function as tested by Mini Mental State Examinations (MMSE) and Frontal Assessment Batteries (FAB). Many began to feel happier and improvements in communication and cognition were recorded. Near miraculous case studies were also observed. For example, an individual who was previously bedridden began to walk again after completing these exercises for six months. Some patients showed improvements in bowel movement. The gentle mental activities Dr. Kawashima used activated the prefrontal cortex, the control center for memory, cognition and planning. These activities are currently being done in over 1400 care centers with over 15,000 patients in Japan. Drawing from the research conducted in Japan, we are inspired to create an intergenerational nonprofit in which university students would hold brain exercise programs at retirement homes. We creates daily packets which include simple math, writing and "read-alouds" that are completed by each individual with the guidance of university students. Several retirement homes have integrated the program into their center and chapters are currently being founded at different universities.

Not only does the Brain Exercise Initiative hope to improve the memory of those suffering from Alzheimer's but we also create an invaluable, all-too-rare avenue for intergenerational service, discussion, and collaboration.

Building Ourselves through Sisterhood and Service (B.O.S.S.) aims to foster healthy and genuine relationships between upperclassmen and underclassmen womxn of color, promote positive social interactions within womxn of color communities, encourage high academic and personal standards, provide access to helpful campus resources, and inspire community involvement and commitment to service. Incoming freshmen are paired with juniors. These pairs will stay together formally for 1 year. Although the program understands the importance of the year for growth and development, matches of sophomores and seniors can be made on a case-by-case basis. For example, a sophomore transfer student may be matched with a senior. We create a variety of programs throughout the year that encourage pairs to bond as well as serve the Cornell and Ithaca community.

The Cornell Computer Reuse Association Club (CCRA) is a student organization at Cornell University dedicated to "donate[ing] computers and other computer-related technology to humanitarian organizations in the developing world and in the local Ithaca community." The students, along with their adviser, collect and refurbish used computers and donate them to community centers, orphanages, schools and other organizations in the United States and developing countries. In its many years of existence, the organization has donated over 2,000 computers to places as far away as Nicaragua, Zambia, Jamaica, South Africa, Mali, Togo, Kenya, the Bahamas, Liberia, and as near as Brooklyn and Ithaca.

Small businesses are symbols of the American Dream brought to life. According to the Small Business Administration, they employ nearly 60% of the private workforce and created nearly 70% of net new jobs after the 2008 recession. The economy relies on small businesses, but they're in trouble. Only 50% of small businesses make it to their 5th year of operations. Many small business owners struggle with turnover of staff and operational issues, and many do not capitalize on digital tools to grow their business.

CYC selects only the most highly qualified undergraduates from America's best universities. Many times there is an acceptance rate of <10% to get into the program. Students that pass through our rigorous interview process are invited to join our intensive, semester-long program, which focuses on developing consultants' problem solving, interpersonal and communication, and entrepreneurial skills.

The Cornell Anti-Detention Alliance, affiliated with the Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Cornell, supports detained and previously detained immigrants through direct services and grassroots advocacy. We demand a humane immigration system that does not exploit and incarcerate immigrants, in Upstate New York and beyond.

Our team will conduct virtual visitation with and provide direct social services for migrants detained at ICE detention facilities (facilitate their access to resources, support services, legal services)

We will also engage in political advocacy by spreading awareness about the immigrant detention system, organizing with statewide and national campaigns for immigrant justice, and fundraising for migrants in need of financial support.

Cross-Cultural Adoptee Mentorship Program (C-CAMP) is a student-run outreach program of the David M. Einhorn Center for community engagement. We were founded in 2007 and promote cultural understanding and appreciation of internationally-adopted youth in Tompkins County. To do so, we match Cornell students with cross-culturally adopted mentees who share the same culture and heritage. The mentor-mentee pairings develop sustainable relationships that allow for a mutual exploration of their cultural identities. We also organize outreach events throughout the academic year to integrate our mission of education and cultural growth with the broader community. Our program is funded in part by the Student Assembly Finance Commission (SAFC) and the ALANA Intercultural Board.

The Smart is Strong Foundation not only aims to target educational inequality relating to gender in the Greater Ithaca community, but also to use this goal as a vehicle for women's empowerment. As young women who have been empowered by their education at Cornell, we are keen on harnessing the resources of the Ivy League to pay it forward to our community. Our focus in on high school seniors in rural or low-income schools, and are forging community connections to help these young women pay for SAT/ACT tests and college applications. We are also creating a mentorship program to help them navigate the often long and stressful college application process, and fundraising to provide some graduation scholarships at the end of the year to help them in the next step of their journey. It is our hope that our own passion for women's empowerment and education will lead to our advocacy and support for the same in Ithaca area schools, and eventually in our larger international community through fiscal support to foundations such as the Malala Fund.

The Zambia Community Education Initiative (ZCEI) is a student organization at Cornell University that aims to develop sustainable secondary education in Zambia by working with local communities to make education accessible to all. The ZCEI is currently working with the Chisekesi community in Southern Providence to fund the building of a secondary school. The inhabitants of rural Chisekesi have no high school, despite the presence of eight basic schools. The nearest high school is over 20km away and costs 600 dollars a year. The distance and cost are largely responsible for the high drop-out rate for ninth graders, leading to high illiteracy rates. For those who do not drop out, the long distances make children (especially female children) vulnerable to assault, sexual harassment and rape. The ZCEI helps to raise money for education opportunities in Chisekesi, collaborates closely with community leaders in Zambia and has taken annual summer trips to the community.
