Alzheimer's Buddies at Cornell is a student-led organization aimed at overcoming the social disengagement experienced by those affected by intermediate-to-late-stages of Alzheimer's Disease. The purpose of this organization is to pair students to volunteer 1-on-1 with dementia residents, build social skills as well as raise awareness through participating in fundraisers and hosting talks on current advancements in Alzheimer's Disease research.

The organization provides underrepresented students with a community and resources to succeed as pre-health undergraduate students. BBMTA hosts general body meetings where students obtain academic support, professional development skills and awareness of health-related issues. Through our annual health career conference composed of panels and workshops, we expose students to a range of health professionals and give students the opportunity to engage with those already established in the medical field. BBMTA extends its mission into the Ithaca community beyond Cornell through commitment to various service projects and youth mentorship.

Building Ourselves through Sisterhood and Service (B.O.S.S.) aims to foster healthy and genuine relationships between upperclassmen and underclassmen womxn of color, promote positive social interactions within womxn of color communities, encourage high academic and personal standards, provide access to helpful campus resources, and inspire community involvement and commitment to service. Incoming freshmen are paired with juniors. These pairs will stay together formally for 1 year. Although the program understands the importance of the year for growth and development, matches of sophomores and seniors can be made on a case-by-case basis. For example, a sophomore transfer student may be matched with a senior. We create a variety of programs throughout the year that encourage pairs to bond as well as serve the Cornell and Ithaca community.

The mission of Community Elderly Partnership at Cornell (CEP) is to reduce social isolation and improve the quality of life for residents of nursing homes in the Ithaca community. CEP aims to achieve this mission by visiting local nursing homes every week in order to foster relationships and mutual learning amongst its members and the residents. Additionally, CEP strives to promote intergenerational awareness of the issues that face the elderly in today’s society.

Our organization functions in association with and with support from the Einhorn Center for Community Engagement and the George Junior Republic High School (GJR). Our objectives are:

1. To centralize the needs and interests of the GJR students in the development and maintenance of quality after-school programming

2. To critically reflect on off-campus civic engagement and the larger systems in which we enact such engagement

3. To nourish a reciprocal partnership in which Cornell students both provide resources for and learn from GJR students

4. To provide support and opportunities for personal reflection to all Compass members

5. To serve as a gatekeeper to the GJR after-school programs and provide support for other students, classes, or professors who may wish to engage with Compass organizations

6. To coordinate and maintain strong communication channels with GJR teachers program co-facilitators (i.e. the Math and Literacy Coaches)

7. To provide educational opportunities for the Cornell community, and especially Compass members, on broader systems of oppression – such as socioeconomic status, racial identity, gender identity, sexuality, ability status, etc. – that contribute to the disenfranchisement of many of the GJR students

8. To counteract that disenfranchisement and empower GJR students by providing them a platform for creativity, learning, and leadership

The Cornell University Admissions Ambassadors (CUDAA) partner and collaborate with staff in the Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO) Admissions and partners in admissions and higher education in general including college access organizations nationwide to either, expose, introduce, or explain the Cornell or college student experience to prospective students, especially historically underrepresented students (including African American, Latino/a, First Americans (Native- American), Pacific Islander, bi-racial/multi-ethnic/multi-lingual, multi-abled, First-generation, Rural, Transfers, Veteran, etc.).

CUDAA accomplishes these goals by coordinating and participating in volunteer recruitment activities including, but not limited to, recruit-a-thons, student hosting, high school / community-based organization (CBO) in-person (on campus) visits, virtual visits, virtual outreach programming, campus discussions, strong partnerships, strategic operations, and community outreach. CUDAA actively seeks opportunities to collaborate with other students, offices, and organizations committed to the recruitment, recognition, celebration, and retention of a talented and diverse student body. Through the collective, organized efforts of students, faculty, and staff on campus. CUDAA strives to perfect Ezra Cornell's founding vision to create "an institution where any person can find instruction in any study."

Cross-Cultural Adoptee Mentorship Program (C-CAMP) is a student-run outreach program of the David M. Einhorn Center for community engagement. We were founded in 2007 and promote cultural understanding and appreciation of internationally-adopted youth in Tompkins County. To do so, we match Cornell students with cross-culturally adopted mentees who share the same culture and heritage. The mentor-mentee pairings develop sustainable relationships that allow for a mutual exploration of their cultural identities. We also organize outreach events throughout the academic year to integrate our mission of education and cultural growth with the broader community. Our program is funded in part by the Student Assembly Finance Commission (SAFC) and the ALANA Intercultural Board.

Y.O.U.R.S. aims to provide opportunities for children aged 7 to 17 living in mobile home parks near Ithaca. Y.O.U.R.S. volunteers work with the children who attend our program to develop healthy life-skills, self-esteem, leadership skills, and individual goals. Each volunteer attends at least one of three weekly programs: Monday Makers, Tech Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, or Thursday for the Earth. On Mondays, volunteers emphasize hands-on activities; they work one-on-one with the children to create a craft or science project that they can take home. On Tuesdays, volunteers work with youth on an ongoing science project presented to the group at the end of the semester. On Wednesdays, volunteers engage in fun, health-focused activities with the children, such as cooking, arts and crafts, and fitness programs. On Thursdays, volunteers work with youth to build awareness of environmental issues and implement skills for conservation.
