Mission
ASL @ Cornell aims to promote heightened awareness of and appreciation for American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture in collaboration with Cornell’s ASL/Deaf Studies program. In doing so, we hope to cultivate an inclusive environment on campus and in the city of Ithaca that welcomes Deaf and hard of hearing individuals while allowing all students to develop a greater understanding of ASL and encouraging them to apply their classroom knowledge to the community.

BBMTA of Cornell University is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving underrepresented students interested in pursuing health-related careers. The organization provides underrepresented students with a community and resources to succeed as pre-health undergraduate students. BBMTA hosts general body meetings where students obtain academic support, professional development skills and awareness of health-related issues. Through our annual health career conference composed of panels and workshops, we expose students to a range of health professionals and give students the opportunity to engage with those already established in the medical field. BBMTA extends its mission into the Ithaca community beyond Cornell through commitment to various service projects and youth mentorship.

This organization was established as a comprehensive alliance with a focus on resource organization and implementation. It provides a network/space for the members of the Pan-African Diaspora to express their needs and have those needs met. BSU is committed to Afro-centricity, occupying the nexus of academia & activism, and developing community-centered leadership. The mission of Community Elderly Partnership at Cornell (CEP) is to reduce social isolation and improve the quality of life for residents of nursing homes in the Ithaca community. CEP aims to achieve this mission by visiting local nursing homes every week in order to foster relationships and mutual learning amongst its members and the residents. Additionally, CEP strives to promote intergenerational awareness of the issues that face the elderly in today’s society.

The Community Partnership Funding Board (CPFB), is a student-run board that seeks to foster student leadership and social responsibility by encouraging students to take action against social problems. Our organization functions in association with and with support from the Einhorn Center for Community Engagement and the George Junior Republic High School (GJR). Our objectives are:

1. To centralize the needs and interests of the GJR students in the development and maintenance of quality after-school programming

2. To critically reflect on off-campus civic engagement and the larger systems in which we enact such engagement

3. To nourish a reciprocal partnership in which Cornell students both provide resources for and learn from GJR students

4. To provide support and opportunities for personal reflection to all Compass members

5. To serve as a gatekeeper to the GJR after-school programs and provide support for other students, classes, or professors who may wish to engage with Compass organizations

6. To coordinate and maintain strong communication channels with GJR teachers program co-facilitators (i.e. the Math and Literacy Coaches)

7. To provide educational opportunities for the Cornell community, and especially Compass members, on broader systems of oppression – such as socioeconomic status, racial identity, gender identity, sexuality, ability status, etc. – that contribute to the disenfranchisement of many of the GJR students

8. To counteract that disenfranchisement and empower GJR students by providing them a platform for creativity, learning, and leadership

The Cornell University Admissions Ambassadors (CUDAA) partner and collaborate with staff in the Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO) Admissions and partners in admissions and higher education in general including college access organizations nationwide to either, expose, introduce, or explain the Cornell or college student experience to prospective students, especially historically underrepresented students (including African American, Latino/a, First Americans (Native- American), Pacific Islander, bi-racial/multi-ethnic/multi-lingual, multi-abled, First-generation, Rural, Transfers, Veteran, etc.).

CUDAA accomplishes these goals by coordinating and participating in volunteer recruitment activities including, but not limited to, recruit-a-thons, student hosting, high school / community-based organization (CBO) in-person (on campus) visits, virtual visits, virtual outreach programming, campus discussions, strong partnerships, strategic operations, and community outreach. CUDAA actively seeks opportunities to collaborate with other students, offices, and organizations committed to the recruitment, recognition, celebration, and retention of a talented and diverse student body. Through the collective, organized efforts of students, faculty, and staff on campus. CUDAA strives to perfect Ezra Cornell's founding vision to create "an institution where any person can find instruction in any study."

The First Gen Student Union aims to promote community, resources, advocacy, and empowerment for all students who identify with the first-generation and/or low-income student experience. We consider you a first-generation college student if you come from a family in which neither of your parents or guardians has obtained a four-year college degree.
We consider you a low-income student if you have little or no expected parent contribution as part of your financial aid package, you are a recipient of the Pell grant, or you believe that your prior academic and social experiences have been limited due to your socioeconomic status.

Students Against the Sexual Solicitation of Youth (SASSY) was founded in 2007 through a Cornell Alternative Breaks trip since 2003, is committed to raising awareness and transforming public perception of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). SASSY works directly with Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS), a non-profit agency in New York City, whose mission is to "empower girls and young women, ages 12–24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential. GEMS is committed to ending commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking by changing individual lives, transforming public perception, and revolutionizing the systems and policies that impact commercially sexually exploited youth."

SASSY has engaged with the Cornell community while maintaining and strengthening its relationship with and support for GEMS. SASSY has hosted several workshops, discussions, and movie screenings for the Cornell community.

Watermargin was founded in 1947 by a group of World War II veterans who shared the purpose of promoting understanding between people of different races and religious affiliations. Over the years, the focus has expanded to encompass all intergroup relations. In the 1960's, Watermargin went co-ed, leading to a change in the motto from "All Men are Brothers" to "All People are Family."
