Our goal is to enable students to thrive academically, personally, and professionally while contributing to our vibrant Human Ecology community, Cornell and beyond. The Human Ecology Office of Student Services houses multiple offices that collaborate in support of our students.

ADVISING & STUDENT DEVELOPMENT

Academic advising is an intentional and developmental process in which students and advisors work together to help students persist and thrive at Cornell. Our office meets students where they are and works to support them in that space.

Our office meets students where they are and works to support them in that space allowing for their intellectual curiosity to grow. We focus on building connections and helping students take ownership in their curricular and co-curricular journey.

Advising and Student Development hosts more than 2500 individual student meetings in person or virtually as well as offering drop-in hours during each enrollment period. Academic Advisors:

  • discuss course scheduling, balancing, and enrollmentexplain overall degree requirements including major requirements
  • explain overall degree requirements including major requirements
  • support students with academic concerns and difficulties
  • provide connections to resources throughout campus and within Human Ecology
  • explore international and domestic academic opportunities discuss long-range academic planning
  • discuss long-range academic planning
  • meet students exploring potential internal transfer to Human Ecology

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

The Office of Career Development is charged with enhancing the career development opportunities within Human Ecology to ensure our students are able to discover impactful opportunities to grow and learn. Students can meet one-on-one with the Director or our Career Peer Assistants from the Career Exploration Center. Human Ecology Career Development is linked tightly to the Cornell Career Network to provide our students with more extensive resources.

Human Ecology Career Development enhances the career exploration and industry readiness opportunities within Human Ecology to ensure our students develop the agency and curiosity to seek impactful opportunities to grow and learn in their area of interest.

The career team can help students with:

OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

The Office of the Registrar supports students throughout their academic journey by maintaining official academic records and monitoring progress toward degree completion. The office also:

  • Updates and maintains student records
  • Reviews transfer credit from other institutions
  • Facilitates the student petition process and communicates decisionsEnsures consistent application of College, Cornell, NYSED and SUNY policies
