About Us
Cornell Ballroom and Drag (CBD) seeks to promote safe, creative spaces where LGBTQ+ students and allies can form community and express themselves artistically. By hosting drag shows, balls, and other events, CBD will educate audience members about the drag and ballroom scenes and other aspects of queer culture and history. CBD encourages members to help plan and attend events. Disseminating, teaching, and reflecting on the art of drag is a central focus of this club. Over the semester, members will discover more about the origins and evolution of drag and will be able to learn the process of getting into drag. Interested members will learn drag make-up styles, learn how to perform in drag, and have the chance to create their own drag persona with their newfound skills and knowledge. Balls represent spaces where, historically, queer BIPOC communities gathered to celebrate queerness and diversity within a heteronormative society. CBD aims to promote ballroom culture in this spirit.
