Diversity

We believe that diversity exists in endless forms, from intellectual to gender to racial and more. We embrace the differences in our members and believe that a group is stronger when it encompasses multiple perspectives, speaks from multiple experiences, and represents multiple identities.

Inclusion

As we take in diverse voices, we want to also ensure that they feel welcomed in our group, and that we are working towards building an overall community that is kind to one another. We do not just want diverse members to capitalize on their experiences as we consult firms; we want them to feel valued by and committed to the work that we do.

Equity

We take steps to ensure that our leadership operate with limited biases and that our membership process is fair and just. We want to provide an equitable experience to prospective members who wish to join us, as well as current members who are attempting to matriculate to leadership positions in our group, so that they are judged based on merit, passion, and dedication.

 

Education

We believe that education is the biggest takeaway from our organization. Our new members will have a comprehensive, detailed, and engaging semester-long education series that prepares them for their culminating case study presentation. We fuse many pieces into our education series to make it the most well-rounded it can be — including our own written case studies as well as WSJ articles, some interactive experiences and some not, and all of which cover topics ranging from sustainability to diffusing a hostile work environment.

Professional Development

We want our members to not only have a wonderful community and develop personally, but also gain hard and soft skills that they can leverage to soar to new heights in the business world and beyond. Some skills include utilizing LinkedIn, networking, workshopping resumes, and analyzing case studies.

Collaboration

We believe in fostering a community of collaboration. Our new members will work in teams several times throughout the semester when analyzing case studies or working in presentation teams, and our returning members will work in teams as they consult with external groups. We believe that being able to ideate, develop, and execute plans of any kind in a team is essential to work in the industries we cover.

 

Accountability

We believe that accountability for ourselves and each other makes our community stronger. When it is encouraged to boldly take accountability in a group, that group becomes more productive and trusting of one another. Time spent trying to reverse mistakes or hide missteps is eliminated because members of the community understand that they will still be trusted if they own up to their actions. Value is added for every party of a community when we take accountability for our actions because as one of us improves, we all improve, and the community is held to a higher standard as a result.

Cooperation

Stepping beyond collaboration, we believe in building cooperative groups. While collaborating achieves great results and bolsters the innovation observed in teams, first growing a sense of cooperation within the team is essential. We believe cooperation in teams builds on environment where they respect one another, delegate tasks easily, promote self-improvement as well as group improvement, and overall stand in the idea of solidarity where they understand a team is so much more than the sum of its parts, and consequently will sink or swim as a cohesive unit.

Apprenticeship

We support a community of apprenticeship where we go beyond recruiting a talented and diverse new member class each semester, beyond developing and educating them during their new member education process, and push the envelope further. We want our members to gain hands-on experience and benefit from our support systems in place regardless of their station in our organization. Apprenticeship builds cooperation, collaboration, and trust between individuals that may otherwise have not worked closely together.
