Move In Fall 2024

Conference & Event Services

THANK YOU, Volunteers!

The 2024 Move-In Planning Team extends heartfelt gratitude to the 400+ staff, faculty, students, and community members who generously volunteered their time to welcome our new and returning Cornellians during the week of August 19. With 92 shifts over six days, the dedication of these volunteers ensured a smooth welcome for over 8,600 on-campus students.

This successful move-in week would not have been possible without the collective effort and dedication of our volunteers. Thank you for making a positive impact on our campus community and for helping to start the academic year on such a high note. Awardco Points will be distributed in mid September. You will receive an email with instructions on how to spend them.

Join the excitement as we welcome thousands of new and returning students to Cornell at the start of the academic year! This campus-wide event is a collaborative effort, and we need your help to make it a memorable and inclusive experience for our newest members. By participating, you'll play a vital role in helping students feel welcome, find their way around campus, and connect with their new community.

Get started by exploring our Opening Week Move-in Support hub, where you'll find all the details you need to know. From roles and responsibilities to shift times and logistics, we've got you covered. Be sure to check back regularly for updates as the event approaches. Host Roles and Responsibilities

Join the Big Red Welcome Team as a Host! As the first point of contact for students and visitors, you'll set the tone for their Cornell experience. By extending a warm welcome and treating Cornell like home, you'll make everyone feel at ease and part of the community. Hosts are the first to welcome students and families to campus, helping them navigate the way and answering any questions they may have. Students may also have the opportunity to escort students and families into their residence halls and assist with moving in their belongings - making their transition to Cornell a smooth and personalized experience.

PreCheck Aug. 15 & 16 and Volunteer Check-in

Check-in is essential for your shifts. Zone Captains will check in their teams on-site, and the Host Headquarters team uses this information to staff the zones appropriately. It also records your presence so you can receive the correct recognition points or service hours for your hard work.

For the first time, we are offering PreCheck-in to volunteers. Pick up supplies and swag before the week of events on Thursday and Friday, 8/15-16, 8am-5pm, 222 RPCC. If you take advantage of PreCheck, you can go straight to your first shift during Move-in, instead of stopping by RPCC first and getting shuttled to your shift.

If you don't work on campus or can't make it to PreCheck, you can check-in at 206 RPCC before your first shift to pick up your Cornell swag, red t-shirt, supplies, and snacks. Please use the volunteer entrance at the far end of the hall and plan to arrive between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM from August 19 to August 23.
