Fall Semester in Full Swing!
September is here, and with it comes the rhythm of a new semester settling, routines are forming, and the campus is buzzing with energy. Remember: you don’t have to navigate it alone. FGLI Student Support is here to celebrate your big AND small wins and support you through challenges.
In this month’s newsletter, you’ll find some exciting events and services we are launching, resources, and opportunities to support your success.
FGLI Student Support is open Mon - Fri from 9 AM - 5 PM at 200 Barnes Hall, located across from Willard Straight Hall. Come relax and study in our student lounge!

Take a break from the books and come play with us! First-Gen Game Nights on Tuesdays are all about fun, laughter, and community. Whether you’re into strategy games, party games, or just want to hang out and meet other first-gen students, there’s a seat for you at the table.
All are welcome to this event, and we especially encourage first-gen students to attend.

Join us for an interactive and virtual workshop co-hosted by Career Services and First-Generation & Low-Income Student Support. You'll discover how to identify your unique interests, values, and strengths, explore potential career paths, and begin building a plan to gain experience and make meaningful connections that support your personal and professional goals.

Our Peer Navigators are offering office hours this semester! Just like the "office hours" your professors & teaching assistants provide, this service is a drop-in service where you can come by to receive navigation of resources from our first-gen student staff. From needing help on where to apply for scholarships to finding basic needs on campus, the Peer Navigators are here to help you navigate Cornell.

The Centers for Student Equity, Empowerment, & Equity (The Centers), a part of the Office of the Dean of Students, provides student lounges, resources, and hosts programs throughout the year. The Centers are made up of 8 offices and centers, including FGLI Student Support, where each area focuses on identity exploration and celebration, involvement opportunities, leadership development, support, and allyship.
The Tuesday Lunch Engagement Series, hosted by the Office of Academic Discovery and Impact, features weekly presentations led by faculty, students, staff, alumni, and other community members from the local area and beyond. Presentation topics span a wide range! Presenters may discuss their current research endeavors, share campus resources, tell us about opportunities in their organization, facilitate a discussion on current events, or lead academic and/or professional development workshops. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend. Free lunch is provided!

The Life Transitions Closet
Check out the Life Transitions Closet (LTC) at the LGBT Resource Center, for casual and professional attire!
The LTC, offered through the LGBT Resource Center, a part of the Centers for Student Equity, Empowerment, and Belonging, is a donation-based campus resource offering free, gender-affirming clothes to all students, including queer, trans, and nonbinary students navigating a transitory period in their lives. From gender exploration to career stages, the closet is for all students to curate their style without the burden of financial and safety concerns.

Penta Group is seeking entry-level associates, analysts, and brand strategists to join our dynamic team. Associates, analysts, and brand strategists at Penta participate in a structured leadership program focused on training, mentorship, and learning. This four-year program combines formal training sessions for soft and hard skills with on-the-job learning through work with internal and client-facing teams. These roles also offer cross-staffing opportunities for those interested in developing deeper expertise in one or more of the firm's other divisions. Over the course of their time at Penta, associates, analysts, and brand strategists will have the opportunity to work across all of Penta’s offerings: public affairs campaigns, custom research, media relations, sentiment analysis, stakeholder mapping, and media monitoring. Successful candidates for the four-year program at Penta have some previous experience in the work they’re looking to do and are generally curious, proactive, high-achieving, and possess a learning-focused mindset.
Start Dates and Virtual Information Session
For this position, Penta Group is looking for candidates who will be graduating between December 2025 and June 2026 who can start their role with the team in the spring, summer, or fall of 2026. Candidates should expect to hear back about their application by the end of the first week of October.
