Have you registered to vote? For all who are eligible and planning to vote in the state of New York, registration closes this Friday, October 9th! Don't forget to register if you haven't yet--more information can be found here.
Did you know that not everything with a recycling symbol can be recycled in Ithaca? In Ithaca, plastic containers with a number 1, 2, or 5 inside the recycling symbol are able to be recycled. You can also put cardboard boxes, paper, glass containers, metal cans, foil, and paper milk, and juice cartons in the recylcing bin. However, plastics with the numbers 3, 4, 6, and 7 or any unmarked plastic items are not recyclable. Plastic bags, sytrofoam, and paper cups are other commonly mistaken items that in Ithaca must be thrown in the trash. For more information, see the Recycle Tompkins website.
All current first year students are guaranteed housing for the next academic year! As a reminder, all current first year students are guaranteed on-campus housing for their second year. More information will be coming out soon, but if you're worried and thinking about signing a lease, please know that on-campus housing is available (and much easier to cancel, as in NY state most leases can't be easily broken). If you have any questions, email housing@cornell.edu.
Cook and Chat with RA Janina
Join RA Janina on Instagram Live this Friday at 8:30pm while she makes one of her favorite dishes, fried chicken sandwiches! All are welcome. Prizes will be raffled for those in attendance.
To enter the raffle you'll need to DM @cornellhilc near the start of the live with your netID/Cornell email. 3 people will be selected and their Instagram handles will be read at the end of the live by RA Janina. To claim your $25 raffle prize from the Cornell Store/Amazon/Bear Necessities you'll need to confirm your attendance in the comment section of the live and then wait for email instructions from RHD Bethany.
The recipe for the fried chicken sandwiches will be shared in the video and afterwards in text format for all who want to follow along and make the fried chicken sandwich on their own time.
