Hi Club Sports!
As of now, all club sports organizations should have been informed of their budget tier/spending cap along with some information about the budget guidelines and documentation for Club Sports Council. Please check the email that was used to register your organization if you have not received this information. Please also make sure the email used to register your organization is valid and can be accessed by officers of your organization. If you still cannot find an email regarding your budget tier/spending cap, feel free to reach out to clubsports@cornell.edu for that information.
Having received your budget, we understand that there may be frustration with the amount of funding you are receiving compared to previous years, and we would like to address some of your questions as a group. We know that this is a transition year and there will be some growing pains. With any change, some adjustments will be needed along the way, and we ask for your continued patience and support. Ultimately, we all want what is best for our clubs.
Why did we move from SAFC Funding to CSC Funding?
- Over the past few semesters, the Student Activities Funding Commission (SAFC) and Campus Activities have worked closely with Club Sports Council (CSC) to align organizations under the proper funding source.
- The goal is to have the correct funding council fund organizations that fall within their scope, resulting in budgets being reviewed by student leader commissioners with the most knowledge in the area! CSC mission is to advocate for access to space, funding, and overall resources for club sports while promoting the presence of living an active lifestyle and healthy competition.
- The CSC is the liaison between club sports on campus, the university and supporting offices, and off-campus sporting venues.
- The key benefits of this funding restructure include using a rolling budget that will allow submissions throughout the semester to better adapt to event changes and equipment needs.
- In addition, this change has allowed us to create a tournament fund that may be used to supplement your group's funding.
