THE DONLON JOURNAL -- VOL 01
Welcome to the Mary Donlon Hall Class of 2026 community! This is the weekly journal. We hope this journal helps you get to know us, the Mary Donlon Hall staff (RHD, RAs and Faculty), and get involved in the greater Cornell Community.
This newsletter is the first step in helping you better understand Cornell. It will give you a peek at Donlon updates and highlight a few important things you should know as the year begins. You will also get more Cornell and Donlon info from your RA (Resident Advisor) as the semester progresses. My goal for these are to communicate relevant information that you should find useful. Also it will save me from emailing you 40 times in a week. Please read these, you might learn a few things or just find out about an event or activity that might peak your interest.
As we plan some events that we hope will engage you and bring you closer to one another, we ask that you fill out this form (also attached) that will give us some insight into some sensitivities you might have or religious practices that might impact your involvement in a program.
I also invite you to name our Community Fish via this form. Voting will close on Sunday Septemebr 4th at 11:59pm.
Lastly, if you have any questions about Donlon, or Cornell, please feel free to contact me at cv247@cornell.edu or Donlon’s direct e-mail address donlon@cornell.edu.

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY COUNCIL?
Student leadership opportunity in each residence hall
Similar to Student Council in high school
Every residential community on North & South campus has a community council, All the residents of the building are automatic members of the hall council
Holding a position on the Executive Board is an excellent way for students to develop advocacy skills and form connections with other residents
Work closely with RAs, RHD Cliff-Simon, other Hall Councils, and Residential Student Congress
My name is Hunter and I'm a Policy Analysis and Management major with minors in Spanish; Law and Society; Migration Studies. I'm from Ridgewood, NJ. Fun fact is that I have never traveled outside the continental US.
I am one of the Triad RAs on the second floor. Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself!
Building Care Updates
Take your room trash out of the building to the dumpsters in the back of the building! Please do not dump your food trash into the bathroom trash! If building care is busy taking your trash out there is less time for them to be able to clean the bathrooms!
Don't clog the kitchen sinks, pick up any food waste that is left from cooking and throw it in the kitchen trash! It shouldn't be someone else responsibility to clean up after you.
As this continues to be a concern across the floors, we will limt the kitchen's access to the floor.
PS: Noodles cannot go down the drain or water fountains. It will clog the system and we will have to call the plumber which could take some time.
