Join A&S Career Development for Inside Journalism: A Conversation with Zolan Kanno-Youngs, White House correspondent for the New York Times. Learn more about Zolan's career path, his experience as a journalist, and what it's like to cover politics for the New York Times. Zolan will be joined by his aunt Robin Young, host of NPR’s “Here & Now", to provide the point of view of a more senior journalist.
Sophia Dasser, incoming Editor in Chief at the Cornell Daily Sun, will moderate a panel discussion with Zolan and Robin where they will discuss her career paths, what it's like to work in journalism, and share career advice and journalism insights with attendees. There will also be a Q&A portion of the event, where attendees will have the opportunity to ask Zolan and Robin questions directly.
Zolan Kanno-Youngs has been named a Spring 2026 Zubrow Distinguished Visiting Journalist in the College of Arts and Sciences. The program brings accomplished journalists to Cornell each year to interact with the campus community. Learn more about the Distinguished Visiting Journalist Program.
About Zolan Kanno-Youngs: Kanno-Youngs joined the New York Times in 2019 to cover the Department of Homeland Security. He moved to the White House beat in 2021. Kanno-Youngs was one of the reporters who sat down with President Donald Trump for a two-hour interview in the Oval Office in January. Learn more.
