The Area Coordinator is a live-in professional staff person who resides on South Campus. The Area Coordinator is responsible for the long range planning, as well as day-to-day operations of the buildings/communities on South Campus, and is the liaisons to parents, Collegetown businesses, organizations, Housing & Residential Life, Campus & Community Engagement, Student & Campus Life, and Cornell University.
The RAs are live-in student staff members who have been trained extensively in working in undergraduate residence halls, in areas including educational programming, counseling, referrals, and crisis management. South Campus has 20 RAs, and you may go to any of them if you have questions or problems. There is an RA on call every night of the week and on the weekends to respond to any emergencies in our buildings. The RAs will be some of the first people you meet upon moving into the buildings in the South Campus community. They are here because they care about you and want your experience to be as successful and positive as possible.
The SRA is also a live-in student staff member with at least one year of RA experience who are on staff and provide additional support in programming, advising and mentoring newer staff members. The SRA has also been trained extensively in working in undergraduate residence halls, in areas including educational programming, counseling, referrals, and crisis management.
VERNON MILLER (Area Coordinator)
Vernon Miller is a member of the Thunder Clan from the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska & Iowa. He received his B.S. in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska and his M.S. in Counseling & Student Development from Kansas State University. Prior to joining Housing & Residential Life at Cornell, Vernon was a High School Business Teacher, recently served as the Omaha Tribal Chairman, and President of the Omaha Nation Public Schools Board of Education on the Omaha Indian Reservation. Vernon also served as a National Racial Equity & Healing Fellow with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, an Americans for Indian Opportunity Ambassador, and a Fellow with the New Leader's Council: Omaha Chapter. Vernon was a Head Resident for Cornell's Summer College in 2018. Hi everyone, I'm David. I go by he/him/his pronouns and I am a sophomore in the College of Engineering majoring in Computer Science. This is my first semester as an RA and I'm very excited to live in South Campus. I previously have spent 3 semesters in Housing & Residential Life as the Social Media Coordinator and Program Assistant at the Latino Living Center on North Campus. I am also involved in the Bowling Club and as a JV player for the Cornell Esports League Team. I am always looking for new friends on campus so don't be intimidated and say hello!

Hey everyone! My name is Alex Woo and I’m from Glenview, Illinois. I’m a junior studying Human Biology, Health, and Society. This is my first semester as an RA in Cascadilla Hall! On campus, I serve as the president of the Class of 2022 Class Councils, TA for General Chemistry, (CHEM 2070), and work in the Leifer Lab. You can usually catch me singing, watching Criminal Minds, or walking around campus with an iced coffee in hand no matter the season. I can’t wait to meet you all!

Hi my name is Nik Rao. I am from Stamford, Connecticut. I am currently a junior in the Hotel School with a concentration in Real Estate development. This past summer, I worked remote for a company based in Providence, Rhode Island. In my spare time, I like to go snowboarding or hiking around the Ithaca area. I love to rewatch How I Met Your Mother and Suits.

Hi! I'm Milena and I'm a junior in Arts & Sciences majoring in Biology & Society and minoring in Nutrition & Health and Inequality Studies. I'm from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and this is my first year as an RA on the 4th floor of Cascadilla Hall! On campus, I work at Libe Cafe, and I'm involved in Cornell Minds Matter, the Cornell Daily Sun, Cornell Health International, and Partners in Health Engage. In my free time, I love watching Netflix and knitting/crocheting. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great year!

Serena is a senior in CALS from Rochester, NY. She is studying bioengineering on a pre-dental track. Serena is on the club field hockey team and loves spending time outdoors. She is excited to be an RA in Cascadilla Hall again this year, and is looking forward to meeting her residents.

Hi, My name is Angel! I grew up in the Bronx, NY but recently moved to a small town in Westchester. I’m a junior majoring in Biology and Society with minors in Nutrition and Anthropology. I’m an RA for Casc, editor for a student-run publication, and I work a student job at the A.D. White House as well. In my free time, you’ll find me reading, writing, roller skating, or cooking. Meg (she/her/hers) is a senior from Chatham, New Jersey. She is majoring in English while following the premedical curriculum in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a 3rd year RA in Sheldon Court and serves as one of the CORE RAs. On campus, she is involved with the Cornell University Emergency Medical Service (CUEMS), Meinig Family Cornell National Scholars (MFCNS), and The Crane Group. She enjoys reading, learning, and, of course, drinking hot coffee with extra room for milk.

I am of Spanish and Caribbean descent (father from Spain and mother from Guyana), I am part of P3 (Pre-professional program), a GSMU mentee (Graduate students mentoring undergrads), XAE (Chi Alpha Epsilon) Honor Society member, a TA for introduction to Environmental Psychology (DEA 1500), and a Human Ecology Ambassador. In my free time, I like to listen to music (mainly rap and hip-hop), DJ, play sports, play video games, watch TV, hang out with friends, and watch movies. This will be my first year as a RA.

Hello, I am Greg Brumberg, a Senior from Boston, Massachusetts. I study Chemical Engineering and Mandarin. I hope to one day combine the two to work on large-scale global environmental solutions. Between classes and studying, I like to rock climb, run, and cook. Despite being from the Northeast, I still find Ithaca very cold. Bundling up with layers and dressing like an onion is the key to success here at Cornell. A main reason for why I came to Cornell is the outdoors. I enjoy the walk across the bridge to the Engineering Quad every day because it is an opportunity to marvel at the gorges and waterfalls around campus. Cornell is filled with these natural wonders, and I look forward to showing them to my residents as an RA!
