Area Coordinator

The Area Coordinator (AC) is a live-in professional staff member who resides on South Campus. The Area Coordinator is responsible for the long range planning, as well as day-to-day operations of the buildings/communities on South Campus. The AC is the liaison to parents, Collegetown businesses, Housing & Residential Life, Student & Campus Life, and Cornell University. The AC provides leadership for all eight South Campus residence halls, but is primarily responsible for Sheldon Court, Cascadilla Hall, Schuyler House, and 112 Edgemoor which comprise our Collegetown residence halls.

Residence Hall Director

The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is a live-in professional staff member who resides on South Campus. The RHD is responsible for the long range planning, as well as day-to-day operations of the buildings/communities on South Campus. The RHD is the liaison to parents, Housing & Residential Life, Student & Campus Life, and Cornell University. The South Campus RHD will provide leadership for the Equity & Engagement Community, Veteran's Program House, 109 McGraw Place, and 118 McGraw Place which comprise our Southwest Campus residence halls.

Graduate Resident Advisor

The Graduate Resident Advisor (GRA - formerly known as an Assistant Residence Hall Director) is a live-in graduate student staff member whom provides additional support in programming and advising South Campus student staff members. The GRA has also been trained extensively in working in undergraduate residence halls, including educational programming, mental health support, referrals, and crisis management. The GRA will provide leadership for Schuyler House.

Senior Resident Advisors

The Senior Resident Advisors (SRAs) are live-in student staff members with at least one year of Resident Advisor (RA) experience, whom are on staff and provide additional support in programming, advising, and mentoring newer staff members. The SRAs have also been trained extensively in working in undergraduate residence halls, including educational programming, mental health support, referrals, and crisis management. South Campus has two SRAs; one provides leadership for our Collegetown residence halls and the other provides leadership for our Southwest residence halls.

Resident Advisors

The RAs are live-in student staff members who have been trained extensively in working in undergraduate residence halls, including educational programming, mental health support, referrals, and crisis management. With approximately 850 residents, South Campus has 26 RAs and you may go to any of them if you have questions or concerns. There is an RA on-call every night of the week and on the weekends to respond to any emergencies in our buildings. The RAs will be some of the first people you will meet upon moving into the buildings in the South Campus community. They are here because they care about you and want your experience to be as successful and positive as possible!


JESS CHERRY (Residence Hall Director)

Jess Cherry (she/her/hers) is originally from Western New York. She received her A.A.S. in Criminal Justice from Genesee Community College, then went on to finish her B.S. in Criminal Justice from SUNY Brockport. Jess recently graduated from Stony Brook University's Higher Education Administration online graduate program, in May 2020, and received her M.A. Prior to joining Housing & Residential Life at Cornell, she spent two years working as a Resident Director at SUNY Brockport and one year working in an Office of Mental Health Residential Treatment Facility for teenagers with high-risk mental illnesses. Jess is very passionate about inclusive excellence and the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, access, and social justice. As a member of multiple historically excluded communities, she strives to uphold these principles throughout all of her work and to educate others about them whenever possible. Jess is thrilled to join the South Campus community and provide exceptional student support services, as well as build relationships with students, staff, and faculty at Cornell. JOE GILIBERTO (Graduate Resident Advisor)

I am excited to be the graduate resident advisor for Schuyler House this year! I am a second year PhD student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. My research interests are in characterizing different failure modes in materials. I am looking forward to connecting with the broader Cornell community and getting to know the campus and surrounding Ithaca area better!

Hi everyone! My name is Brooke Paykin and I am from Scarsdale, NY. I am currently a sophomore and am majoring in environmental engineering. I am a member of the Cornell Outdoors Club and Cornell Club Ski Team. I enjoy biking, running, cooking, and eating. I like to try new activities too. Hey everyone! My name is Alex Woo and I’m from Glenview, Illinois. I’m a senior studying Human Biology, Health, and Society. On campus, I serve as the president of the Class of 2022 Class Councils, TA for General Chemistry, (CHEM 2070), and work in the Leifer Lab. You can usually catch me singing, watching Criminal Minds, or walking around campus with an iced coffee in hand no matter the season. I can’t wait to meet you all!

Hello, my name is Thomas! I’m a first-year graduate student studying Management at the SC Johnson College of Business. I went to Cornell for undergrad and studied Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) with minors in Business and Law & Society. On campus, I volunteer for the Cornell Red Cross and I am a Senior Editor for a labor journal. I was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, and in my free time, I enjoy biking, taking long walks, canoeing, and anything else that includes being outdoors!

MANNY (4th Floor)

I am a Senior studying Human Development in the school of Human Ecology. I am from Brooklyn and am of Spanish and Caribbean descent (father from Spain and mother from Guyana). My on-campus activities including being part of P3 (Pre-professional program), President of Kappa Xi Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, XAE (Chi Alpha Epsilon) Honor Society member, a RA for Cascadilla Hall, and a Human Ecology Ambassador. In my free time, I like to listen to music (mainly rap and hip-hop), DJ, play sports, play video games, watch TV, hang out with friends, and watch movies. Outside of school, I work as a paraprofessional educator. This past summer I worked in New York City REC centers, aiding first responder children making sure they ate, attended online classes, and were provided an environment that allowed them to have fun while following COVID guidelines. Currently, I am looking into pursuing a career in clinical psychology or organizational/industrial psychology.

Hello! I'm Milena and I'm a senior in Arts & Sciences majoring in Biology & Society and minoring in Nutrition & Health, Inequality Studies, and Anthropology. I'm from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and this is my second year as an RA on the 4th floor of Cascadilla Hall! On campus, I work at Libe Cafe, and I'm involved in Cornell Minds Matter, the Cornell Daily Sun, and Partners in Health Engage. In my free time, I love watching Netflix and knitting/crocheting. Hello, I am Greg Brumberg, a Senior from Boston, Massachusetts. I study Chemical Engineering and Mandarin. I hope to one day combine the two to work on large-scale global environmental solutions. Between classes and studying, I like to rock climb, run, and cook. Despite being from the Northeast, I still find Ithaca very cold. Bundling up with layers and dressing like an onion is the key to success here at Cornell. A main reason for why I came to Cornell is the outdoors. I enjoy the walk across the bridge to the Engineering Quad every day because it is an opportunity to marvel at the gorges and waterfalls around campus. Cornell is filled with these natural wonders, and I look forward to showing them to my residents as an RA!

I'm a junior double-majoring in Psychology and French and I also plan on minoring in Biology. At Cornell, I'm a part of Alpha Phi Omega, Therapy Thru Music, Cog Dog Theatre Troupe, Big Red Sports Network, and WVBR-FM; in my spare time, I love watching soccer and other sporting events. Hi, my name is Biagio Iannace! I am a Sophomore in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences from Westchester, NY and am majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Neurobiology and Behavior on the pre-med track. I am also planning to pursue minors in Psychology and Business for Life Sciences. I enjoy spending my free time gaming, drawing, playing piano and ukulele, skateboarding, and playing soccer and tennis.
