Mehmani Night is a vibrant cultural event hosted by the Organization for Afghan Students. It celebrates Afghan traditions through music, dance, food, and art, welcoming the entire Cornell community to experience Afghan hospitality and culture in a warm, festive setting on campus.
The Nowruz Celebration , hosted by OFAS marks the New Year and the arrival of spring. The event features traditional Afghan music, dance, food, and cultural performances, bringing students and community members together to celebrate renewal, unity, and cultural heritage in a joyful, inclusive atmosphere.

Shabe Yalda is a warm, community-centered celebration of the longest night of the year. The event features poetry readings, traditional Afghan and Persian music, storytelling, and seasonal foods like pomegranates and nuts, symbolizing light, hope, and togetherness as the night gives way to longer days.
The Annual Fall BBQ Party at Ithaca’s Stewart Park is a fun, outdoor gathering to kick off the fall semester. Students and community members enjoy grilled Afghani Kabab, games, music, and scenic lake views, creating a relaxed atmosphere to reconnect after summer and welcome new members to the Cornell Afghan community.
