Cornell Wind Symphony, James Spinazzola, conductor. The Wind Symphony celebrates the music of Dmitri Shostakovich with a set of entertaining rarities drawn from The Gadfly Suite and the Suite for Variety Orchestra. Clarinetist Diego Vásquez will be on hand for Michael Daugherty's Brooklyn Bridge, a virtuosic concerto in which a view from the iconic suspension bridge inspires each of the four movements. James Spinazzola's new arrangement of Ernesto Lecuona's Danza Lucumí kicks off the Wind Symphony's preparations for a second tour of Cuba, and the concert concludes with Sergei Prokofiev's March, Op. 99.
