Making Sound Futures, conceived by Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri in collaboration with Tacet(i) Ensemble, reimagines the musical instrument as a living, evolving entity rather than a fixed and perfected object. Through iterative exchange, Tacet(i) musicians build and test sonic prototypes that are refined through dialogue with the composer—an ongoing process of building through listening. Composition unfolds as collective research, foregrounding fragility, interdependence, and transformation. The concert also features new works by Piyawat Louilarpprasert and Travis Christopher Johns, expanding the inquiry into embodiment, temporality, and collective authorship. Together, the program positions sound-making as an evolving social and material practice, cultivating new ways of listening and imagining the future of instruments.
