Anna O’Connell and Addi Liu present love songs of Oswald von Wolkenstein and excerpts from the contemporaneous manuscript, Lochamer Liederbuch. The fifteenth-century poet, diplomat, lover, (and possibly spy) roamed far and wide, ruling over his third of the familial castle only to be ruled in turn by his wife and household. This program presents joyful love songs, a barnstorming semi-autobiographical ballad, scintillating canons, as well as Oswald’s obsession with the sounds of birds, to send his “guenstlichem herczem wunsch” (heartfelt wish) for joy and love.
