Join local multimedia artist and muralist Maryam Adib in creating your own batik wax-resist artwork on fabric. You will use various materials (like brushes, sponges, sticks, and droppers) to create a unique design. These creations can become wearable art or wall hangings, whatever you choose!

Reflecting on her own practice, Adib says, "Connecting with this calming practice and working with water always brings me peace and will be relaxing and rewarding for the students as well. Mental health is nurtured when we explore things outside ourselves and accomplish new things." Textiles will be sourced from secondhand stores as a way to honor our environment. No experience necessary! Registration on Campus Groups is free, but space is limited.

This workshop is part of the Johnson Museum's Student Art and Wellness series. Our program provides opportunities for Cornell students to explore artistic self-expression and learn new skills in a friendly environment.
