14Strings! is a Filipino style Rondalla based in Ithaca, New York. The main instruments are 14 stringed plucked instruments like the bandurria, the laud (lute), and the octavina. Our mission is to further the appreciation for and engagement in the tradition of the Rondalla, both for our members and the wider Cornell and Ithaca communities. All are always welcome regardless of background or musical experience.

Furthermore, APAA builds coalitions with other students of color and social justice groups to facilitate a more unified community of color. In the past two years, APAA held discussions on revolutionaries and thinkers like Grace Lee Boggs as well as relevant issues in the AAPI community such as affirmative action, rising gun violence in the AAPI community, and Asian-American history. We are also engaging with the greater Cornell community through fundraisers, panels, and other events to raise awareness about AAPI issues. Big Red THON is an independent, registered non-profit organization and simultaneously Cornell's branch of the Children Miracle Network Hospitals Dance Marathon. We brought the Dance Marathon movement to the Ivy League in 2015, and have raised over $115,000 to date for the kids of Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse--our local CMN Hospital. Our yearly 10-hour Dance Marathon, typically held in Barton Hall, is a celebration of the fundraising and awareness campaigns we've held leading up to the main event. - Brain Exercise Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on preventing memory loss through brain exercise.
- Pioneered by neuroscientist Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, it has been found that doing simple math and reading aloud for just 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week, caused marked improvements for those with Alzheimer's. Most showed improvements in cognitive function as tested by Mini Mental State Examinations (MMSE) and Frontal Assessment Batteries (FAB). Many began to feel happier and improvements in communication and cognition were recorded. Near miraculous case studies were also observed. For example, an individual who was previously bedridden began to walk again after completing these exercises for six months. Some patients showed improvements in bowel movement. The gentle mental activities Dr. Kawashima used activated the prefrontal cortex, the control center for memory, cognition and planning. These activities are currently being done in over 1400 care centers with over 15,000 patients in Japan. Drawing from the research conducted in Japan, we are inspired to create an intergenerational nonprofit in which university students would hold brain exercise programs at retirement homes. We creates daily packets which include simple math, writing and "read-alouds" that are completed by each individual with the guidance of university students. Several retirement homes have integrated the program into their center and chapters are currently being founded at different universities.

Not only does the Brain Exercise Initiative hope to improve the memory of those suffering from Alzheimer's but we also create an invaluable, all-too-rare avenue for intergenerational service, discussion, and collaboration.

Cameradery is a photography program, in partnership with the Ithaca Youth Bureau and BOCES, that focuses on constructing an educational experience where people with cognitive challenges (e.g., Downs syndrome, autism spectrum) feel safe to share their stories through artistic expression. Its primary goal is to raise self-esteem and self-worth for those who do not conform to "normal" standards. Students will design self portraits and at the end of the program, have a show to present their work. Not only will this program boost self-esteem and self worth, but as seen in research, art therapy such as photography improves communication skills for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It has been demonstrated that those with intellectual disabilities that are involved in an integrated education setting for people of varying cognitive abilities demonstrated growth in communication, social and interpersonal skills and enhanced self determination. Inspired by this research, participants will be partnered with either high school or college students in the Ithaca community without cognitive disabilities. By providing a place where people can come together over shared experiences, participants will learn to appreciate and enjoy the art of photography and how it reveals the beauty of individual differences. Participants will work with their partner to help design a self portrait of themselves, of their partner and a portrait of the two of them. They will be encouraged, after short lessons and discussion on photography, to create portraits that represent and capture who they are, who their partner is, and their relationship with their partner. The program may lead not only to growth for those with intellectual disabilities, but also give high school and college students a chance to broaden their knowledge about a community that is often hidden from the public eye.

At Cornell's chapter, local elementary school students come to Cornell University's campus every week to engage in educational activities with a college student mentor.

College Mentors for Kids is not a tutoring program, but rather a mentoring program. Through weekly after-school activities focused on higher education and career, culture and diversity, and community service, mentors help their "little buddies" understand the importance of education, show them the benefits to cultural understanding, and teach them ways to give back to their community. Every child is paired up with a current undergraduate Cornell student who serves as their mentor throughout the year. Mentors and little buddies are organized in groups of approximately five to ten pairs, which are supervised by General Managers during the activity day. Many small business owners struggle with turnover of staff and operational issues, and many do not capitalize on digital tools to grow their business.

CYC selects only the most highly qualified undergraduates from America's best universities. Many times there is an acceptance rate of <10% to get into the program. The Cornell Anti-Detention Alliance, affiliated with the Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Cornell, supports detained and previously detained immigrants through direct services and grassroots advocacy. We demand a humane immigration system that does not exploit and incarcerate immigrants, in Upstate New York and beyond.

Our team will conduct virtual visitation with and provide direct social services for migrants detained at ICE detention facilities (facilitate their access to resources, support services, legal services)

We will also engage in political advocacy by spreading awareness about the immigrant detention system, organizing with statewide and national campaigns for immigrant justice, and fundraising for migrants in need of financial support.
