Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is a team fundraising event to raise money for the American Cancer Society and celebrate patients and survivors of cancer. Participants form teams to fundraise, and they are encouraged to set up themed tables at the event to continue their fundraising efforts by hosting food, crafts, games (e.g., bingo, cornhole, pictionary), or activities (e.g., writing letters to cancer patients) in exchange for donations from other participants. In the past, groups hosted tables that included cooking crêpes, face painting, making bracelets, caramel apple dipping, tie-dyeing clothing, etc. This all-day event is filled with performances from groups on campus, delicious food, and fun games, as well as inspiring speakers and ceremonies (referred to as the Luminaria ceremony) to remind everyone that we are in this ongoing fight to win. Throughout the day, participants walk the designated track to signify that cancer never rests.
