Mission We seek to promote the diversity of ideas. Our club exposes students to diverse viewpoints which will lead to enriching discussions, arguments, and thoughtful debates on various subjects. Certain topics discussed include morality and philosophy, politics, law, science, economics, history, humanities and the arts related to the issues of our day. The best arguments are the ones that know the counter-arguments, which we aim to explore.
Membership BenefitsSapere Aude – dare to know. We dare to hear new ideas and broaden our members' minds with different perspectives, creating robust arguments, writing papers and holding discussions - even starting a movement. Every movement, institutional change, or book started with a conversation, which asked the questions many would not dare to ask. For instance, some of the greatest historical movements started with people conversing in cafes and salons, sometimes in secrecy. The Daring Discussion Club seeks to establish this setting as a place of thought, with the goal to encourage Cornell students to explore deeper into foundational topics outside of the classroom to use, write, and discuss them when in the classroom - or far beyond it.
