About us

The Cornell Student Chapter was established in 2011 and is supported by Cornell's Department of Mathematics. Our chapter was a recipient of a 2017 Cook Award for our "commitment to women's issues and improving the campus climate for women at Cornell." In 2020, our chapter recieved the AWM Student Chapter Award for professional development. This award recognized our chapter for "the breadth and success of its program to develop students’ professional involvement in mathematics."

The goal of the Cornell Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics is three-fold:

Please note: people of all genders are welcome! The title of our group is the Association FOR Women in Mathematics -- and NOT the Association OF Women in Mathematics. As such, any member of the Cornell community who is "for" women and nonbinary persons in mathematics will be welcome at all chapter events.

Outreach

Our members organize and participate in outreach events to local students.

Networking

We organize chats with seminar speakers, alumnae, and women in industry. We also host tea-times to give members chances to socialize in an informal setting.

Related Organizations

Our "parent" organization is the Association for Women in Mathematics. We also connect with other on-campus organizations empowering women in STEM.
