About Us
Yamatai is dedicated to spreading the art and joy of Japanese taiko drumming. Since its founding in 2006, the group has performed at many different venues on the Cornell campus or around Ithaca with the purpose of spreading this art form. Cornell undergraduates of all musical abilities are encouraged to join Yamatai as a testament to the ease with which one can learn taiko. Yamatai aims to inspire and entertain audiences of all walks of life, while exploring the nexus between the contemporary and the traditional.
