RISE UP’s Annual Symposium: Bridging Knowledge Gaps and Disparities in Underserved Populations
by RISEUP (Realizing Integration, Support, and Education for Underserved Populations) at Cornell
Details
This event centers the disproportionate reality and needs of underserved communities, including immigrants, refugees, low-income individuals, racial and ethnic minorities, international and DACA students, first-generation college students, and advocates committed to justice and inclusion.
RISE UP invites attendees to engage in educational exploration, critical discussions, and cultural celebration. Through a thoughtfully curated program, we’ll dive into how structural disparities affect healthcare access, education, mental health, and nutrition, while uplifting the resilience, heritage, and voices of the communities we serve.
Because we recognize the financial challenges faced by several Ithaca community members and Cornell students, RISE UP is also organizing a raffle at the event to help alleviate some of those burdens. Attendees will have the chance to win one of several exciting prizes, such as eight $25 gift cards, ten coffee machines, and four 15-piece kitchen cookware sets.
To make the experience even more welcoming, we’ll be providing delicious food and beverages for all attendees—because nourishment is part of care, community, and connection.
The Symposium Will Feature Three Impactful Segments:
1. Committee Presentations – Our four dedicated committees—Healthcare & Access, Mental Health & Support, ESL & Education, and Nutrition—will present key insights, data-driven findings, and practical resources. These presentations aim to educate, empower, and equip individuals from underserved backgrounds with knowledge and tools to navigate and challenge systemic barriers in their respective fields.
2. Inspiring Guest Speakers – Hear from renowned advocates, policymakers, and community leaders who are driving systemic change and dismantling barriers.
3. Raffle Giveaway – Every attendee will receive a free raffle participation passport upon entry, giving them the chance to win exciting prizes and take home something special just for being part of the event.
This symposium is more than an event—it’s a movement. Join us in building a future that is equitable, inclusive, and sustainable for all.
