Join the Prison Reform and Education Project, End Overdose, and Cornell Minds Matter for a conversation with Dr. Jack Kuo exploring the intersections of addiction, mental health, incarceration, and rehabilitation. Dr. Kuo will reflect on his career journey, from early outreach work with homeless youth and residential counseling to medicine, addiction psychiatry, and his current work. Through his experiences, we’ll explore what working with vulnerable populations looks like day to day, how healthcare systems and government structures shape care, the challenges of working with incarcerated individuals, and how professionals sustain themselves in emotionally demanding fields. We’ll consider career pathways in medicine, law, policy and advocacy, social work, research, and more. The session will conclude with a career exploration and action plan guidebook to help you identify interests, discover opportunities at Cornell, and find concrete ways to get involved in the community.
