Wednesday Nov. 20: Pro Bono Training with LawNY for the Clean Slate Act
Time: 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Location: Room 186
Description: Please join us on Wednesday, November 20th from 2:30-5:30 pm in Room 182 for an in-person pro bono training with Jason Hoge and his team from Law New York. This training will provide the information and skills you need to take part in Law New York's pro bono re-entry project. This experience is so rewarding as you can help individuals move forward in their lives and careers by working on cases to provide them with a "clean slate." This is also a wonderful opportunity to work towards your pro bono hours as a law student. Once you complete this training, you will be eligible to work on a case with Law NY - as a 1L, 2L, or 3L. Cookies will be served at the training! Please register for the event on Campus Groups here.

Thursday Nov 21: Summer Public Interest Internship Panel
Time: 12 - 1 pm
Location: Moot Court Room
Description: The Public Interest Law Union (PILU) and Career Services would like to invite you to our Summer Public Interest Internship Panel featuring current Cornell Law students who completed a public interest internship last summer. Please register for the event on Campus Groups here, and note any dietary restrictions here. We will discuss the timeline for applying for public interest summer internships and best practices when it comes to applying and interviewing for summer internship positions. Career Services Dean Akua Akyea will also provide some information about how the Career Services office supports students doing public interest internships over the summer. The event will be especially helpful for 1L students but is welcome to all. Lunch will be provided!

SAVE THE DATE for February 1, 2025: Public Interest Law Career Academy: Charting Your Own Path in Public Interest Law
Time: 1 - 6 pm, with a reception to follow at the Statler Hotel.
Location: Myron Taylor Hall (The Gallery and Rooms 182, 184, and 186)
Description: Join the Public Interest Law Union (PILU) and Cornell's Office of Career Services for a day of panels with speakers from different areas of public interest law (government, direct services, impact litigation, plaintiff-side firms, and judicial clerkships) to hear about how to prepare for a career in public interest law, the different pathways to a public interest career, and the career options available within the field. The event is open to all Cornell Law School students but will be especially helpful for 1L and 2L students who are applying to summer internships or looking at preparing for post-graduate fellowship opportunities, and for students who are looking to eventually transition into a public interest law career. A reception following the event will be held at the Statler Hotel's Taylor and Rowe room from 7-9 pm. We will send out a RSVP link and more concrete details about the Academy program agenda in December. We look forward to seeing you there!
Best,
Melissa Fergusson and Carrie O’Malley
