"The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself." - Carl Sagan

Join Faculty-In-Residence Stephanie Thomas for an evening at the Fuertes Observatory. Members of the Cornell Astronomical Society will give us a tour of the facility and tell us about the history of the building and the Irving Porter Church Telescope - a 12" refractor, still driven by the original mechanical clockwork mechanisms. We'll learn about Cornell's long tradition of astronomic research, the role Fuertes Observatory played, and what research is currently underway. if the skies are clear, we'll even have a special opportunity for some stargazing through the telescope!

Meet FIR Stephanie at the Observatory at 8:00pm. All attendees receive a free gift!

This event is part of the "Iconic Cornell" series. It is a faculty-in-residence sponsored event.
