Mission
MECHA provides academic and personal support to students in the organization, enhances the community's awareness of Chicanx culture through educational, cultural, and social programming, and promotes the continued education of Chicanx students. We are working towards a decolonial understanding of the "Chicanx" label. It transcends beyond an identity; it is a philosophy and mindset. "Chicanx" is inclusive of any person of any ethnicity or race. Although MECHA used to cater to the Latinx community, the organization is open to anyone willing to liberate and empower the marginalized. We aim to celebrate our cultures and history but remain cognizant of the facts, stories, and voices that have yet to enter the mainstream conversations around what it means to be Chicanx.
