THE DONLON JOURNAL -- OCTOBER 21 2022

CLIFF NOTES

As the seasons change, be sure to take a minute to reflect as to how much you have evolved as a person! You are not the same person you were during move in week. You have learned, experienced, and persevered. Keep up the Great Work Donlon!

You can schedule a time to meet with me using this link:
https://calendly.com/cv247/15min. If you would like to connect with Cliff, add them on linkedIn

RA Higlight of the Week

My name is Caroline Kirby and I am an animal science major with a pre-vet concentration. My fun fact is that I showed cows for twelve years. I am on the soccer team and I am involved in the Cornell University Dairy Science Club (CUDS).
Feel free to reach out at cek228@cornell.edu

Trouble with your WIFI

We want to bring to your attention the Wifi access units you will see throughout the halls. If you do not want yours or others’ Wifi connection disrupted, it is important that you do not touch these units, or adjust or remove the antennas. If you are having Wifi issues or see damage to these unites, please put in a service request to the Cornell IT Service Desk.

Community Engagement Resident Survey

A survey of all of our residents was sent  out October 13th via email about their engagement with RAs to help build connection. This survey is anonymous other than asking what community they live in. It is not intended to assess individual RAs but to give us an overall snapshot of how we are doing with building connections for our students via a variety of means including RA chats. The survey will close on October 27th and residents will be able to enter a raffle after they finish the survey as an incentive.

TCAT Bus Route Changes

Service on several TCAT routes, including 10, 30, 81, and 83, is being reduced or eliminated due to a bus shortage. Service updates and alerts can be found at https://tcatbus.com/. TCAT recommends passengers download one of the real-time transit apps to view real-time vehicle locations and search for a stop, either by name or stop number. They apologize for the service interruptions and are working to get buses in service as quickly as possible.

CAPS Counseling

More than a dozen of Cornell Health’s fall counseling groups still have openings for new members, including:
  • Tools for Feeling Better: using mindfulness to deal with difficult thoughts and emotions
  • Finding Your Focus Support Group: for students with ADHD or ADHD symptoms
  • LGBTQ+ Support Group for Undergraduates & Graduates
  • BEING: A Processing & Motivational Group for Undergraduate Students of Color
    •  Process Group for Black Me
    • Anxiety & You: Managing Anxiety in Times of Uncertainty
      • And more!
      • Group counseling offers a safe environment to process with and learn from other students who are dealing with similar concerns. Groups are led by CAPS counselors, are free, and are primarily offered online (a few groups meet in person). See the complete group list at health.cornell.edu/groups.
