Mission
In the fall of 1883, five women at Cornell University applied to Kappa Kappa Gamma for a charter and became Psi chapter three weeks later. They joined a strong and successful Greek system which was stated by a Psi historian to be "deeply imbedded in Cornell, both for men and women." In 1921, the chapter raised enough funds to buy a house at 508 Thurston Avenue which is still the same location of the sorority house today.
Since the beginning days, Psi chapter has upheld very high ideals, both for themselves and for their community. In 1961, the Dean of Students said of Psi, "The women of Psi chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma have made the Panhellenic Creed a living reality on our campus and the student community has profited from their positive leadership." This leadership continues today as evidenced by the many Greek awards and recognition that Psi chapter receives each year. The women of Psi chapter have also taken their leadership skills beyond college with their extensive amount of Kappa Achievement Alumnae Awards.
Each year, during spring rush, it has been the hope of every sister that new pledges are chosen that will be as faithful and enthusiastic to carry out the ideals of Psi chapter that were established in 1883 and since upheld.
