Menstrual Justice: Cramp Pain
Details
When: Friday, March 14th
Time: 4pm-6pm
Location: (WSH or 626 Thurston)
This event is dedicated to educating and raising awareness about menstrual pain, its disparities, and effective pain management. Through the use of cramp simulators, participants will have the opportunity to experience the intensity of period pain firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of its impact.
We also aim to highlight disparities in menstrual healthcare, particularly for Black and Latine (Brown) women, as outlined in this research. The first hour of the event will feature Rachel Clark, Director of Women’s Health at Cornell Health, to educate participants on menstrual health when it comes to menstrual cramps, discuss pain relief solutions, and answer questions. Pelvic Pain Association at Cornell will also briefly go over what they are working on, which is for a gynecologist at Cornell.
The second hour of the event will be an opportunity for people to test out the cramp stimulators, take their goodie bags, and socialize.
The first 25 or 50 participants will be able to take one/two Cramp Relief Goodie Bag that will include Cramp Bites, a holistic, plant-based cramp relief snack, heating pads, menstrual diapers, and more
While this event takes place in honor of Women's Month, we recognize that periods do not define womanhood. This experience is open to anyone who menstruates or who wants to learn more about their friends, family, or partners who menstruate.
