Drs. Peter & Rosemary Grant, 2009 Kyoto Prize – Frontiers of Discovery Lecture Series

The Frontiers of Discovery Lecture Series brings distinguished scholars and leaders to Cornell to share groundbreaking research, experiences, and ideas with the community.

This event will feature Drs. Peter and Rosemary Grant, world-renowned evolutionary biologists whose decades-long study of Darwin’s finches in the Galápagos Islands has transformed our understanding of evolution in the natural world. Through continuous field observations spanning more than four decades, the Grants documented natural selection and evolutionary change unfolding in wild populations, providing insights into adaptation, speciation, and the dynamics of evolution.

During the lecture, the Grants will discuss their pioneering research in the Galápagos, the discoveries that emerged from it, and its enduring influence on modern evolutionary biology. The lecture will be followed by a moderated Q&A, providing attendees with an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.

Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and members of the broader Cornell community are encouraged to attend this opportunity to hear directly from two of the most influential evolutionary biologists of our time. A reception with food and refreshments will follow the lecture.
