Newport, Oregon Research & Outreach

Isabella Faith Hacket, Undergraduate is traveling to Newport, Oregon for research and outreach purposes in collaboration with Oregon State
University's GEMM Lab. We will be conducting an outreach event at the Newport Public Library to engage
the local community. Dr. Leigh Torres of OSU is also co-advising my senior honors thesis, as the greater
HALO project is a collaboration between the GEMM Lab and the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation
Bioacoustics. For this reason, I need to visit to prior to submitting my final thesis for submission to ensure
alignment on research methods, results, and analysis. This will also give me the chance to present my
results and receive feedback from the greater Marine Mammal Institute, and it will help me prepare the
research for formal publication.
