Julia is a Brazilian evolutionary biologist and herpetologist fascinated by the remarkable diversity of frogs and toads and how they have evolved to thrive in a wide range of environments. In this talk, she will take the audience on a journey from head to hole, presenting research on the evolution of toad skulls from her master's studies at San Diego State University and preliminary results from her PhD research at Cornell University on diversity and sexual dimorphism in frog cloacas. Together, these projects highlight how studying both classic and overlooked anatomical structures can provide valuable insights into the evolution of frogs and toads.
