At a large, tastefully appointed Snedens Landing townhouse, Charlie Brock, the Deputy Mayor of New York, has shot himself just moments before his 10th wedding anniversary party. When Chris and Ken Gorman, the first couple to arrive at the celebration, and Charlie unconscious, a bullet wound in his earlobe, and his wife, Myra, nowhere to be found, they jump to the first rational conclusion: Charlie Brock tried to take his own life.
