AVANSE: A Celebration of Progress

Avanse is a Haitian Creole word that means to advance—to move forward with purpose. And that’s exactly what this moment is about.

Black Student Empowerment and Cornell Black Alumni Association invites the Class of 2026 to gather in community for AVANSE, a Rites of Passage celebration honoring the journey and brilliance of our graduates.

During this special ceremony, graduates will be called by name and invited to cross the stage surrounded by their community—friends, family, faculty, and mentors who have supported you along the way.

All graduates who would like to participate must:

1. Complete the full registration form

2. Register for a free membership with the Cornell Black Alumni Association

Undergraduate: https://app.glueup.com/membership/18597/apply/application-details/

Graduate/Professional School: https://app.glueup.com/membership/14140/apply/application-details/

3. Wear your cap and gown for the ceremony

Faculty & Staff

Your presence and participation mark a meaningful contribution to this celebration. We kindly ask that those that plan to attend wear your academic regalia.

After the ceremony, we’ll continue the celebration with a reception on the Terrace, where we can gather, take photos, share joy, and honor this milestone together.

This is a moment to be recognized.
A moment to celebrate the journey.
A moment to step boldly into what comes next.

Hosted by Black Student Empowerment, a Center within the Centers for Student Equity, Empowerment and Belonging and Cornell Black Alumni Association.

Photos will be taken during this event to capture key moments and share the experience. These photos may be shared on Cornell social media and in marketing materials.
