Horses can be stoic animals that mask some signs of pain or distress; this lecture discusses several validated measures for assessing both pain and stress in horses in clinical settings, in ridden work, and on the farm.

Learning Objectives: After this session, students will:
1. Be able to recognize subtle signs of pain and distress in horses.
2. Be familiar with the most current evidence-based methods for evaluating pain and stress in horses.
3. Be able to apply their understanding of pain and stress in horses to clinical settings.
